Description
This unit study geared for JK to Grade 2 uses picture books written and /or illustrated by Canadians. It is similar to Five In a Row in that you read the suggested book each day of the week and select from listed activities to follow up your reading. But there are some distinct differences. Come Sit By Me is set up in units of study; over 90% of the books are found in major Canadian libraries; each unit contains a writing project resulting in a homemade published book. Memory verses, character study and biblical application are all included. Both volumes have a unit which "travels" across Canada via picture books. What a great way to teach our young children an appreciation for this wonderful country of ours! All you need for a fun and meaningful year of learning is a math and phonics program. Both Volumes are in the same format and geared to the same age group.
Volume 2 Units covered: Growing Up; Days Gone By; In My Neighbourhood; Round and Round We Go; Grand World Tour; Poetry; Birds; Cross-country Alphabet; Bugs (summer unit). 36 studies in all.
These are the books used in Come Sit By Me Volume 2. You should be able to get many of them in the library. We also carry most of them - you can find them under Novels and Picture Books on this website. Click on Picture Books, then Picture Books for Come Sit By Me Volume 2 on the left of your screen.
