HomeSchool and More is a home-based family business devoted to supplying curriculum, novels and resources to the home educator community. Our Family Story

From left to right (back row): Katelyn, Breanna, Ben, Charlotte, Allison, (front row) Rebekah and Quincy, Marlene and Landen, Dan, Mike and Anna, and Ellen and Jessica
In 1993 our family began homeschooling after having recently moved to New Brunswick from Prince Edward Island. Our three oldest children, Mike, Ben and Allison had started attending public school but for a variety of reasons we decided to try a homeschooling experiment. Sometime during the last sixteen years, the experiment became a way of life. While our three oldest children returned to the public school system to complete high school, our three youngest children Katelyn, Rebekah and Charlotte will be home educated through grade 12.

The choice to homeschool our children has not always been an easy one, but the rewards we see through our children’s lives far outweigh any struggles we have experienced. Mike and Ellen and family moved from St. John’s, NL to Fredericton in June where Mike is completing his residency at the Dr. Everett Chambers Hospital. It’s been great having them close by and being able to visit more regularly. We are also very excited that they have entered the ranks of homeschoolers, have become customers of HomeSchool and More, and are teaching ace students—Landen and Jessica (with baby Anna in the wings!) Ben and Breanna are building/renovating a new home in Chapel Point, NB and we have been happy to be able to lend a hand to this project. Ben has developed a multitude of skills in the building trade and we are proud that they are doing this without assuming any debt. Allison has completed 3rd year pharmacy at Dalhousie University and is doing very well in her studies. Katelyn, who is an important part of HomeSchool and More, is graduating this year from the MacDonald Homeschool and has been accepted at Atlantic Baptist University for Fall studies. Bravo Kate! Rebekah and Charlotte are increasing their musical talents—in addition to both being accomplished violin players, Rebekah is taking voice lessons and Charlotte has taken up the guitar. We thank God for our family and for His mercy and blessings!

Why HomeSchool and More?
HomeSchool and More came into being in order to fill an urgent need for a dependable, knowledgeable homeschool supplier in the Maritime provinces. At the same time, we have a strong desire to support and strengthen homeschooling families. To that end, be sure to check frequently asked questions About Homeschooling and our Articles for advice on various aspects of homeschooling.

HomeSchool and More had another busy year, as again, the number of homeschooling customers has increased. After nearly 16 years of homeschooling Marlene still enjoys researching and planning the curriculum for our children’s education and she welcomes the opportunity to share her knowledge and experiences with both new and seasoned homeschoolers. It is a great blessing to be able to share and encourage one another in the mission of mothering and homeschooling. Please don’t hesitate to call!
